How You Can Impact Pharmacy Students’ Future

EPIC Rx is proud to share that our student grant program has enabled dozens of pharmacy students across the nation to focus on their studies with less financial stress. 

Buying group members are encouraged to recommend current pharmacy students to apply for this program, as they may be selected to receive a $1,000 student grant. 

 

Two members of the EPIC Rx Board of Directors feel it is crucial to recommend students, as they are the future of independent pharmacy. 

Bob Borgatti, owner of Vienna Drug Center and EPIC Rx member for 30 years, stated that the EPIC Rx Student Grant Program allows members to “build community goodwill and mentor future pharmacists.” 

Jeff Sherr, owner of Apple Discount Drugs and EPIC Rx member for 35 years, also shared that the grant program “strengthens the future of independent pharmacy while directly supporting those deserving students who are pursuing a community-based patient care career. The financial assistance of the grant speaks for itself, but the mentorship and professional connections are priceless.”

Bob believes that the high cost of education makes this program incredibly helpful to current students. With many independent pharmacies struggling, opening doors to students shows just “how much an independent pharmacist cares and how EPIC Rx truly empowers us.” 

“The EPIC Rx Student Grant Program provides opportunities for students to learn about the different segments of pharmacy that many students are not aware of. The ability to be in a setting that can be a real eye opener,” says Jeff. 

 

When asked to share one piece of advice for current pharmacy students, Jeff shared three points for those looking to open their very own pharmacy one day in order to be successful:

  • Passion- Passion drives innovation
  • Need- Focus on exceptional customer service where it’s needed.
  • Profit- Determine how your pharmacy will stand out and create revenue.

And in one simple sentence from Bob, “be all you can be.” He says to take advantage of all the opportunities that come your way and embrace the learning process of becoming an independent pharmacist.
